Historic Flags |
???Early on May 10, 1775, Ethan Allen and a small force of Green Mountain Boys stole silently into the British-held Fort Ticonderoga and demanded its surrender. The captured cannon and mortars were taken that winter across the rugged New England Mountains. Their installation of the heights above Boston enabled Washington to force the British to leave that seaport. "The Green Mountain Boys" carried this flag at the Battle of Bennington. |
