How to Tie Knots |
The Lark's Head is often used on small sailboats to fasten a jib sheet?to the clew?since it is smaller and smoother than two bowlines would be and thus less likely to get hung up or add to wind resistance. It is better to add a seizing. Contributed by: Peter Saxton of Tacoma, WA according to John R. Whiting in his book "On Deck; the Art of Modern Seamanship." This is also called a girth hitch, used for tying a leather strap to a ring (saddle rigging). Contributed by: Susan Bartley's 59-year-old boy scout. |
